Transform Your Entryway: The Design Pieces Your Guests Will Say Wow to

Fun Fact: Princeton researchers found that it takes  exactly 7 seconds to make first impressions. 7 seconds for your entryway to do the talking before you say hello to your guests.

Your entryway is the first thing guests see and the last thing they remember as they exit your home. Have you seen some entryways with shoes piling up, mails stacking high, and amazon packages sitting by the entry door for days (I’m guilty of this too 🫣)?

I know we’ve focused our energy in making the living room, dining room and kitchen functional and relaxing for the family to enjoy that we forget quickly that the entryway does more work than any other room in the house.

And the good news? Transforming your entryway does not require a massive renovation, it just needs a Designer expert to help source the right pieces.

In this blog-post, I’ll show exactly how you can transform your entryway with these 5 Design essentials.

5 Essential Design Pieces You Absolutely Need in Your Home

  • Statement Light Fixture

This is the piece that gives an instant wow factor. If you’re going to invest in one thing for your entryway, make it the lighting. Nothing creates a fast impact than a stunning overhead fixture or a fancy table lamp. Think of it as a jewelry for your entryway.

  • The Console Table.

I tell my clients, solid furniture is like investing in real estate. Maybe not quite but if you get a good solid piece, it can outlast several furniture you buy from fast popular retail chain shops. I love designing the entryways with console table because it’s functional, decorative and elevates a space quickly. If not using a Designer, keep in mind the height, width and the wood tone of the console table before purchasing

  • A Wall Mirror

This creates a double impact because it’ll reflect more light into the space while being decorative as well. This creates an illusion of more space and adds an instant elegance. You can place it above the console table or choose to hang adjacent the wall. Things to watch out for before sourcing – frame style, wood tone, shapes and size for the greatest impact.

  • Wall Art

The entryway art should be bold enough to notice, and interesting enough to remember. Try to stay away from safe or popular trends and styles. Keep in mind to scale up, create a story mix mediums – photos, paintings, sculptures-, and use colors.

  • Greenery

Add a substantial form of greenery will elevate the space and add life and softness. Think fresh flowers or faux flowers in the vase, small potted orchids or plants.

Other finishing touches you can add are candle stands, decorative bowls, baskets, and textiles

Your entryway sets the tone for your entire home. It’s the space that welcomes you home after long days, greets your guests, and transitions you from the outside world to your sanctuary.

With the right pieces—a stunning light, a well-styled console, a beautiful mirror, and art that speaks to you—this hardworking space becomes one of the most memorable rooms in your home.

Not bad for a space most people walk right past.
